THE TEAM

Robert Wilson

Photographer/Director

Robert was eight years old when he was given his first camera, a Kodak Brownie Twin 20. His favourite ‘Kodak moment’ on that camera was Jim Clark winning the British Formula One Grand Prix in a Lotus 49.

Robert’s Brownie. Still going strong (much like Robert).

Robert had no idea then that he would become a professional photographer and to this day no one, including himself, knows when or how the link between taking pictures for pleasure and making a career of it appeared.

Early years were spent at an Edinburgh based company producing high quality architectural and commercial photography. A great start but he moved on to open his own, very successful, studio in the centre of Edinburgh to work mainly with advertising agencies and design groups, enjoying the variety of commissions.

When work dried up in the early 1990’s recession, Robert spent almost three years living in Santiago de Chile with his wife and daughter, working as a photographer and commercials director shooting campaigns. Santiago had good agencies, with Lowe Porta, JWT, Euro RSCG & McCann Erickson etc. Campaign magazine rated it as the fastest growing ad agency market at the time. And of course, the weather and wine were very good.

During his time there Robert was voted photographer of the year at the annual agency awards. The campaign was for one of Chile’s largest insurance companies, Chilena Consolidada. Lowe.Porta, the agency.

After some three years or so he returned home to Scotland and started working in Edinburgh again. Robert now lives by the sea, on the Ayrshire coast. He spends most of his time on personal projects and some selective commissions.

But always pointing his camera at the island outside his front door.

Brian Williams

Creative Director

Brian has spent most of his career staring at a blank sheet of paper trying to come up with ideas to sell stuff…stuff that people did not always want to buy. But hey, that’s advertising.

A career spanning four decades began in London and then moved to Edinburgh where he met and worked regularly with Robert, shooting studio based still life, fashion and location images. It’s also fair to say they shared the occasional lunch. A professional relationship became an enduring friendship.

MOMA, New York. Somebody else staring blankly.

As an art director, combining words and pictures to create persuasive communications, working with images is Brian’s life. His film experience is mostly through commercials, working with a wide variety of directors and production companies.

Over the years a few awards have been received, but not enough to make him think the sun shines out of his arse. So he’s still a nice guy to work with.
